Mary Pretzer Walker, also known as the "Communication Goddess", is an international business communications specialist, speaker, and writer from Loveland, Colorado. Mary specializes in "the science" of communication. Her subjects cover the full spectrum of how we receive (or don’t receive) messages. Whether it’s writing for business, or learning the power of listening, Mary sessions are always high energy, fun and practical. With more than 20 years of experience in all areas of publishing from print to electronic she is a recognized expert in communications and creativity. She is the author of Creative Low Budget Publication Design (1999 Northlight Books) and has written hundreds of articles for magazines, newsletters and web sites.

Mary is a true "hands-on" expert in communications from print to Internet, writing to design.

After graduating from college, Mary began her career as a reporter and photographer. Her "low boredom level" prompted her  interest in the power of graphic design. She moved into magazine management and soon began studying "the science of graphic design" and how people read. She was the editor of the subscription newsletter, In-House Graphics, when she was first asked to put her expertise into a full-day seminar for professional communicators.

Mary discovered a talent for speaking and very shortly became the training director for a large international seminar company on the east coast. She traveled to Canada, Great Britain, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Australia, New Zealand and all over the United States as a lead speaker for public seminars and conferences on a variety of communications topics. In 1990, Mary moved back to Colorado and opened Compact Training and Design. After 15 years, the company still focuses on training and curriculum development. Mary travels extensively speaking for conferences, leading workshops and facilitating research.
